One of HopeSpring's Yoga instructors, Peter Brother, is making an intrepid journey from the Yukon to Ushuaia, Argentina on a bicycle to raise money for HopeSpring and and other charities. Many of our members experience "chemo brain", otherwise known as "brain fog". This article in the Globe and Mail is a report of a recent study that finds that Tai Chi can help.
In a pilot study, women who previously had chemotherapy and took a 60-minute tai chi class twice a week had sharper thinking at the end of 10 weeks of training in the Chinese martial art. Before and after the study period, researchers assessed participants' physical and psychological well-being and measured their cognitive skills in areas such as attention and multitasking.

Our 51 Cambridge Street location is now closed yet HopeSpring is still serving people with cancer & their care givers in Cambridge. We have moved all of our Cambridge programs into the community. On March 1st, 2011 we opened a new site for wig fittings & relaxation therapies. Our support groups & programs are taking place at the Allan Reuter Centre (ARC) and the YMCA of Cambridge. Please see our Cambridge program calendar for detailed information.
Our Strategic plan included moving our Cambridge programs into the community through the procurement of rented or donated space and closing our 51 Cambridge Street location. We are pleased to say that we have relocated all of our programs & services.
