Boutique

HopeSpring offers wigs and headcoverings to those losing their hair due to cancer treatment. We are able to offer the wigs we purchase free of charge, as all of our services, thanks to the generosity of our donors.

We are also pleased to provide Post mastectomy camisoles to women undergoing, or who have recently had a mastectomy thanks to the Zonta Club of Kitchener-Waterloo.

Make an appointment in our Boutique today for your private session with a trained staff member or volunteer by calling (519)742-4673 or 1-888-680-4673 (in Guelph).

Resource Library

Our lending library of resource materials contains books, DVDs and CDs on a variety of topics.  We have resources about cancer types, stress management, nutrition, yoga, inspiration, meditation, and more.  Items are signed out for a three week period.  Drop by and browse our shelves!

Peer Support

Our peer support volunteers and staff offer you the opportunity to speak with someone who has been there, who really understands. We are not trained therapists - just a comforting ear. All conversations are confidential, and you're welcome to bring a support person or other family members with you. Come in or call or chat online.

Relaxation Therapies

HopeSpring offers Reiki, Reflexology and Therapeutic Touch as a complement to your medical treatments. During the relaxation treatment, you will be invited to lie down or sit in a chair - whichever is more comfortable. Your glasses, watch, and shoes may be removed for added comfort. Your eyes may be open or closed.

All our relaxation practitioners are certified. Sessions typically last 60 minutes. There is no charge but appointments must be booked in advance. You are always welcome to bring along a friend.

Reiki:

Reiki ("ray-kee") is an ancient form of healing.  Reiki practitioners consciously direct energy into your body as you sit or lie quietly  The practitioner follows a precise method of hand placement using a gentle touch directly on or just above your body.  You will be asked if you have had recent surgery or if there is any other reason not to touch you directly.  Please note you can request a no touch session and the relaxation experience will be similar.

Therapeutic Touch:

Therapeutic touch is a healing technique.  It is a non invasive holistic approach to healing which stimulates the cancer patient's own recuperative powers.  It promotes relaxation, reduces anxiety and often alters a persons perception of pain.

It is a modern form of laying on of hands and is based on the principle of an energy exchange between people.  It is most useful to reduce or eliminate pain, promotes healing and elicits a relaxation response.

Guelph: Every other Friday 12 to 4pm starting in June - call for an available appointment time

Reflexology:

Uses pressure, stretch and movement to work through the food methodically.  It is a clothed session with only the removal of shoes and socks as a requirement.  The reflexologist will use a chair and sometimes a table.  Some oil may be used, however you can request a dry technique if you are sensitive to scents.

The reflexologist will work within your comfort zone. Your personal preference should be communicated with the reflexologist.

Please note that due to demand and to ensure fair access for everyone we must limit everyone to one appointment per month per type of relaxation therapy. Thank you for your understanding.
