Relaxation & Movement Programs

Yoga Back.jpg

Exercise programs are designed to be gentle and attentive to the special needs of those affected by cancer treatments. Our facilitators are all certified and experienced. We always encourage individuals to work at their own pace, and listen to the needs of their own bodies. These classes offer a stronger body and a more peaceful mind. Before beginning an exercise program, we recommend speaking with your health care provider.

Laughter Yoga

Laughter Yoga is a practice which combines yoga breathing and laughter exercises. The fun and gentle activity boosts the immune system and stimulates the brain to produce endorphins - feel good hormones. Whether your laughter is real or not, your body will get the benefits of this wonderful program. It's great for all ages and stages of recovery including family and caregivers.

Gentle Yoga for Symptom Management

This is a gentle yoga to help exercise control over physical and emotional well-being by combining movements, breathing, stretching, body poses and meditation practice. This program is specifically for patients who have significant adverse physical symptoms (e.g., pain, instability, mobility problems due to surgery) that requires an especially gentle style of yoga that can be modified to each member's needs. The primary objective of this type of yoga session is symptom relief.

Many thanks to Mukunda Stiles and Peter Brother for providing us with this set of yoga exercises for people to practice at home.
