#HopeForHopeSpring

1. Is HopeSpring closing?

We currently have a fundraising campaign, #HopeForHopeSpring, underway until February 27th. We require $400,000, in immediate or pledged donations (e.g., monthly by credit card), by February 27th for the Centre to remain open past March 31. This represents our estimated 2017-2018 operating costs, excluding rent and occupancy costs. We will also gratefully accept pledges for support for years 2-5 during this campaign.

2. How will you address long term sustainability?

Long term sustainability is equally important to us. If we are successful in raising our $400,000 funding goal through our #HopeForHopeSpring campaign, which ends February 27th, this will give us the ability over the next 12 months to review, plan and campaign for our long term sustainability. This would include continuing to secure funding partners in the community, applying for grants and accepting applications to our Board of Directors and standing committees.

3. How much money is needed to continue operations?

We have reviewed our 2017-2018 annual operating expenses and, with significant adjustments to reduce costs, we have calculated that $400,000 is required to deliver our programs and services for the next 12 months. If we successfully reach our $400,000 goal, our immediate focus will be addressing and building our long term sustainability.

4. Do you need to have these funds in hand by February 27th?

We are seeking $400,000 by February 27th which will cover our operating expenses, services and programs for the 2017-2018 fiscal year and enable us to prepare for a new beginning for HopeSpring. We will also accept pledges for support for years 2-5 during this campaign.

5. Why did you choose March 31st as a closing date?

March 31st was chosen in order to conduct the closure of HopeSpring in a responsible and respectful manner for all those who would be impacted. Without the #HopeForHopeSpring campaign funding, remaining open past March 31st is not an option for us to continue to operate with our current obligations to our staff, suppliers and our partners.

6. You notified your landlord of your intention to vacate 16 Andrew Street by March 31st. Are you looking for space from which you could deliver your programs and services?

Yes. Our landlord very graciously allowed HopeSpring to break our long-term lease without penalty. We do have a generous offer of space from a community donor that would house all of our programs and services under one roof for several years. We are investigating this option, along with other options, should we receive the necessary funding to remain open.

7. How can I make a donation to the #HopeForHopeSpring campaign? What happens to my donation if HopeSpring closes?

Please contact our office at 519-742-HOPE (4673) or visit our #HopeForHopeSpring GoFundMe. We’ll take your donation information and count it towards the campaign’s running total. If HopeSpring closes, cash donations and cheques will be returned, and credit card donations will be cancelled.

8. How can I make an ongoing gift and pledge to pay it over the next few years?

Please contact our office at 519-742-HOPE (4673). We’ll discuss how much you’d like to pledge and a timeline for making payments.

9. How can I follow the campaign’s progress?

Campaign results are posted on our home page and will be updated daily throughout February. You can also join our social media campaign on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. #HopeForHopeSpring
