1. Welcoming Week 2025
September 12-21, 2025 | Celebrating the Stories We Share
What is Welcoming Week?
Welcoming Week is a global, annual campaign that brings together neighbors of all backgrounds to build inclusive communities where everyone belongs. Launched in 2012 by Welcoming America, this week celebrates diversity, fosters new connections, and highlights the work being done to make our communities more welcoming for immigrants and non-immigrants alike.
2025 Theme: The Stories We Share
This year, the theme is the Stories We Share, a powerful reminder that while our differences may be visible, it’s the stories we tell and the experiences we connect over that truly unite us. Sharing stories fosters empathy, understanding, and a stronger sense of community. By listening and learning from each other, we shape a future where everyone feels seen, valued, and welcomed.
Why It Matters
Welcoming Week isn’t just a celebration, it’s a movement. It serves as a reflection point each year to recognize progress made and set goals for deeper inclusion in the future. It’s also an entry point for new communities to begin their welcoming journey.
Who Can Participate?
Anyone! Individuals, nonprofits, schools, libraries, businesses, and governments are all invited to host or join Welcoming Week events. No effort is too big or too small. From potlucks and storytelling nights to cultural fairs and panel discussions, every activity helps strengthen bonds and break down barriers.
