Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2025 - Going PINK this October

HopeSpring is Going PINK this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancers) and remains the second leading cause of cancer-related death. While it is rare, breast cancer can also affect men. (Source: Canadian Cancer Society)

At HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre, we walk alongside women and men facing breast cancer by providing free wigs, mastectomy camisoles, counselling, and support groups. We receive no government funding, so every program and service exists because of the generosity of people like you. Together, we ensure that Every Cancer. Every Stage. Everyone. receives the care and compassion they deserve.

Be a Hopester

Whether you’re an individual, a business, or a school, you can join the movement and help make a real difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

Give the Gift of Comfort & Confidence

This October, your generosity can bring comfort and dignity to someone facing breast cancer.

A $40 donation provides a specially designed post-mastectomy camisole, offering softness and support during treatment.

A $75 donation provides a HopeSpring Member the opportunity to receive a beautiful wig, helping them feel like themselves again as they navigate the challenges of breast cancer treatment.

Every gift inspires hope and reminds our members that they are not alone on their journey.

Your generosity today ensures that someone’s sister, cousin, aunt, mom, or best friend has the support they need if breast cancer touches their life.

Blanket The Country - Retailer, Urban Barn Will Be Doubling Donation Impact For The Month Of October

We are excited to announce that Urban Barn has selected HopeSpring as one of their charity partners for the Blanket the Country Campaign!

As part of this partnership, Urban Barn will be collecting donations on behalf of HopeSpring at their Cambridge and Kitchener locations, as well as through their online store, for an entire year. This generous initiative ensures that members of our community can easily contribute to providing vital support for those facing cancer.

Even more, throughout the month of October, Urban Barn will be doubling every donation made to HopeSpring through this campaign. That means every dollar given during October will have twice the impact—directly supporting our mission to provide care and programs for Every Cancer. Every Stage. Everyone.

Together with Urban Barn and our community, we can continue to inspire, empower, and bring hope to individuals and families affected by cancer.

What is HopeSpring?

Hope Lives Here

HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre is a place of comfort, compassion, and connection for anyone affected by cancer. As a non-profit organization, HopeSpring is dedicated to walking alongside individuals at every stage of the cancer journey — from diagnosis to survivorship and beyond — offering cancer care support to patients, caregivers, and families.

While we are proudly based in Kitchener, Ontario, our programs and services are available to anyone who is affected by cancer. Through free, confidential programs like support groups, cancer care counselling, wellness classes, relaxation therapies, wigs and post mastectomy camisoles, workshops, and access to valuable resources, HopeSpring empowers people to navigate cancer with hope, strength and dignity.

At HopeSpring, no one faces cancer alone. Our motto says it all: Every Cancer. Every Stage. For Everyone.

Understanding the Impact of Cancer in Our Community

It is estimated that about 2 in 5 Canadians will develop cancer in their lifetime. Lung and bronchus (lung), breast, prostate and colorectal cancers account for almost half of all new cancer cases diagnosed.*

Cancer remains by far the leading cause of death in Canada.*

Hope When It’s Needed Most

In recent years, there have been significant decreases in incidence and deaths rates for lung and colorectal cancers and generally more people are survivors and living longer past the initial diagnosis.*

As result, the need for organizations like HopeSpring is more significant than ever before. Support is offered over and above that of which is available in the hospital environment; our medical partners rely on us to provide this much-needed support for their patients.

Our Mission

At HopeSpring, we are dedicated to empowering individuals affected by cancer to enhance their emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being. We are committed to providing support and resources that help people affected by cancer feel empowered and more in control of their lives, and we strive to achieve this by fostering a caring and compassionate community that promotes holistic wellness.

About HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre

At HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre, we assist individuals coping with the emotional strain that accompanies the cancer journey. Our programs are centred around the four pillars of wellness - exercise, nutrition, stress management, and sleep - and aim to help cancer patients and their loved ones find the necessary support to navigate the physical, and emotional challenges that come with the disease.

While local hospitals handle the medical aspects of cancer treatment, we offer a warm and inviting environment where individuals affected by cancer can focus on managing their mental and emotional well-being through our wellness programs. Our services are offered free of charge, recognizing the significant financial impact that cancer can have on individuals and their families.
