Gentle Yoga and Meditation With Melissa
Gentle Yoga and Meditation with Melissa
Meet Your Facilitator - Melissa
This is a gentle, calming yoga class ending in meditation that is intended to be accessible to everyone (patients or caregivers, any level of yoga experience). Pose modifications are offered throughout the class to ensure that participants are challenged to a level that is comfortable for them. If you are interested in getting a taste of what Melissa’s classes entail, you can find her videos at https://www.youtube.com/@MidlifeMindfulnessWithMelissa
Melissa has been practicing yoga for over 25 years, and recently obtained her 200h teacher certification. She enjoys and teaches a gentle style of yoga, and believes that while yoga can (and should!) facilitate physical and personal growth, it should be a calming and accessible practice for all. Melissa is grateful to learn from and support the HopeSpring community and is connected to the cause as both of her parents were diagnosed with cancer in their 40s. Regular yoga practice has been shown to have numerous benefits to patients during their cancer journey, and is also beneficial for caregivers. When she’s not working at her full-time corporate job or running around after her family, Melissa’s happy place is on the mat or meditation chair. In addition to her yoga teacher certification, she’s obtained a Mental Health First Aid certification, Mindfulness and Well-Being specialization with Rice University, and holds a science degree and an MBA.
